THE FIRM

firmup is a small firm by design.

We are a productized consultancy headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, founded in 2026 by Mohammad Al Sayed. We work with a limited number of top-of-market clients in the UAE and the wider GCC.

THE STANCE

The firm exists for a narrow reason. The category we operate in — strategy and operations consulting in the Gulf — has, over the last two decades, drifted into slide-as-deliverable, hours-billed retainers, and recommendations the client cannot operationalise without hiring a second firm to do it. We think that is a failure of product, not of talent. We are taking a position on the other side of that failure.

Every engagement we accept is shaped around a named artifact, a fixed period, and a bounded fee. The artifact is the unit of value. The fee is the price of the artifact. The date is when it ships. If we cannot name what the artifact is at proposal stage, we do not take the engagement.

The 7-day diagnostic is the way we open every relationship — free, invite-only, with a sourced report at the end of it whether the engagement continues or not. It is also the test we set ourselves: if we cannot say something useful inside seven days, we are not the right firm for the file.

THE PRINCIPAL

Mohammad Al Sayed is the principal of firmup. He signs every proposal, runs the diagnostic on every active file, and remains the primary contact for each engagement for its full term. He has built and operated across operations, growth, automation, hiring, and brand — most of it inside companies he has founded or led, the rest inside companies he has advised in the Gulf. He works in English and Arabic.

The firm is intentionally small around him. Specialists are dispatched per engagement — operators, engineers, analysts, designers — under his direction. There is no account-executive layer between the client and the principal.

THE PRACTICE

We work primarily in the UAE and the Gulf because the work makes more sense done where the regulators, the operating calendar, and the commercial context all align. Our default contracts are written under UAE law, our default fee currency is AED, and our default cadence respects a Friday–Saturday weekend.

We are not a global firm with a Dubai office. We are a Dubai firm with the rigor of a global one. Outside the region, we accept the rare engagement that the principal underwrites personally.

If the file is worth opening, the diagnostic is the way in.
